Sue Gray: Nadine Dorries’ then & now is too funny!

"A year is a along time in politics when it suits them."

Nadine Dorries, who served as former PM Boris Johnson’s culture secretary, claimed the validity and findings of Sue Gray’s Partygate report had been “completely destroyed”.

A lot of Tories angry that Partygate investigator Sue Gray was offered a job as Sir Keir Starmer’s chief of staff..

She produced a highly critical report into lockdown parties under Boris Johnson that contributed to his downfall as PM.

Labour has insisted it did not approach her until after it was published.

The Daily Mail are NOT happy either…

Funny also how they changed Sue Gray's picture: First one: Daily Mail likes her/suits their agenda: aww- Sue Gray is all smiley. Second one: Daily Mail is appalled/doesn't suit their agenda: angry/miserable Sue Gray. It's hilarious but so predictable in equal measures. pic.twitter.com/VuoNU8s1O6

So how was Nadine back in 2022 on Sue Gray’s appoitment compared to now?

Well the amazing @implausibleblog share this and it’s quite the 180!

Watch

2022: "Sue Gray is independent, is known to be independent."

2023: "There is huge doubt over Sue Gray and what she did when she was writing that report."

Oh and Michael Gove’s vid is worth a peek!

Well I remember Gove effusing that Sue Gray is a person of great integrity – so I presume he’ll now passionately counter the Daily Mail claim that her Partygate investigation was a Marxist plot all along? pic.twitter.com/YrLNTAlqcn

Killer thread

Also this thread is worth a read on Gray’s appointment, by Russ Jones.

1.

Thread on Sue Gray's terrible lack of independence.

1. Johnson appointed her.

2. For a long time, Tories used her independence as a reason why Johnson shouldn't quit – we "had to wait for Gray".

3. The Police matched Sue Gray's findings – are they part of the Labour plot too?

— Russ Jones (@RussInCheshire) March 2, 2023

2.

4. Johnson accepted Gray's findings

5. So did the Tory party

6. So did the police

7. There were 126 fines handed down, and 57 ministers quit to force Johnson out

8. There is no law or precedent to stop somebody taking a new job 12 months after writing an independent report

— Russ Jones (@RussInCheshire) March 2, 2023

3.

9. There is no law or precedent to stop civil servants going to work for a political party – David Frost was a civil servant too, and Johnson made him a govt minister

10. How many people working in Westminster do you suppose have NO view on politics? Why shouldn't they?

— Russ Jones (@RussInCheshire) March 2, 2023

4.

12. For all the pissing and whining, nobody has identified any part of the Sue Gray report that they now claim was inaccurate.

13. So even if everything I list above is wrong, it still didn't affect the outcome of the investigation.

Here are the facts:

— Russ Jones (@RussInCheshire) March 2, 2023

5.

There were illegal parties in Downing St.

Johnson took part in several, started at least 2, and was found out.

He lied to parliament about it.

Under him, 10 Downing St became the most-fined address in the UK.

He did that.

Accept some fucking responsibility.

If you like his work you can buy his book here!

[Contractually mandated weekly promo]

I'm writing a funny book about all this. It will refer to Jacob Rees-Mogg as Marilyn Manson's Mum, Nadine Dorries as Crystal Meth Barbie, and Boris Johnson as Shit Aslan.

It'll be awful. Buy it for somebody you hatehttps://t.co/eUCfo3Lbin
