Jacob Rees-Mogg was presenting an episode of his show “Jacob Rees-Mogg -state of the nation,” on GB News (where else?) when he introduced Professor of Economics at King’s College, Jonathan Portes to discuss Brexit.
One assumes it didn’t go as he expected, as Portes as told Mogg some home truths about Brexit, which left the arch-Brexiter looking for something else to blame.
Portes said: “The cost of Brexit has had a more damaging impact on investment than the rate of corporation tax. We have pretty clear evidence that Brexit has reduced investments.:
Mr Portes isn’t too keen on yesterday’s budget either as you can see from this tweet.
Mogg then told Portes that Covid was a main reason for the UK’s economic slump, but Portes said that other nations had recovered much better from the pandemic, than the UK.
Struggling for something to say Mogg pulled out the bag that leaving the EU meant we could roll-out the Covid vaccines faster.
This claim has been discredited on so many occasions, and filmmaker Peter Stefanovic outlined this in his new video.
Peter shared the video and wrote: “Wow. After introducing his guest as “a particularly distinguished professor of economics at Kings college London” Jacob Rees-Mogg squirms as he’s told some hard truths about the damage of Brexit. Watch in disbelief at what comes next.”
