Instead of representing his constituents more, Jacob Rees-Mogg has taken up a presenting role at GB News.

He will host his own talk show, joining a presenting team including Esther McVey, Nigel Farage, John Cleese and Eamonn Holmes.

Free speech

His show will “debate the hot topics of the day” and interview guests from “across the political spectrum”.

Mogg also described GB News as “a bastion of free speech”.

He tweeted a Telegraph debate and wrote: “Civilised political debate will be my watchwords.”

Reactions

1.

Did you apply this approach when you spoke at the dinner of Traditional Britain Group – an alt-right organisation that called for British people of colour to be deported? Or when you met the 'civilised' Steve Bannon? Or when you tweeted a video from AfD, a German far-right party? pic.twitter.com/0evPPiWXQy

Civilised political debate? Why not try that in the House of Commons? It would make a refreshing change.

Hopefully, the first few topics will be about the more than a decade-long underfunding of the NHS, R&D, policing, social security, the transport system and education. If yes, I'm looking forward to it.
