Get Brexit Done was a simple slogan, but it has been anything but simple.
This was apparent today when a recently promoted Minister was called out for sharing incorrect information on more than one occasion.
Kemi Badenoch was being interviewed by Ed Conway on Sky News.
The business and trade secretary said how trade with Italy was going since Brexit and that’s when the confusion began.
It comes after an announcement that “the UK and Italy have today, agreed a momentous trade partnership to boost UK exports, help create jobs, increase wages and grow the economy.”
“As I understand it, it has gone up,” Badenoch said, about trade with Italy.
Conway said it had gone down with Italy by about 12 to 16 per cent.
So someone was wrong…
“It depends on what you are looking at,” Badenoch replied, claiming there were a lot of mitigating factors.
“It’s always down,” Conway then said in exasperation.
